Pan Con Tomato Bread

A favorite in Barcelona! This simple tomato bread recipe is a delight when paired with a favorite wine. We carry local olive oils from The French Olive and Sciabica’s. The Maldon salt is in stock. Fresh tomatoes and garlic available at your local Farmer’s Market or grocer.

Pan Con Tomate (Tomato Bread)
Serves 4

4 slices rustic bread
Olive oil, for brushing
2 cloves garlic, halved
2 large tomatoes, halved
Extra virgin olive oil, for finishing
Maldon salt, for finishing

Heat an outdoor or indoor grill to high. Brush the bread with olive oil on one side and grill, oiled side down, until charred grill marks appear. Immediately rub the oil side of the bread with the cut sides of the garlic and tomato. Finish with a drizzle of extra virgin olive oil and sprinkle of salt.
